Travel Insurance FAQs

Travel Insurance FAQs

Q: How do I choose the right type of travel insurance?

The right type of travel insurance depends on where your travels will be taking you, how much your trip will cost and how much cover you'd like to include. If you're planning more than two trips in the next year, it may save you time and money to purchase an Annual Multi-Trip policy. For international trips, you can decide between the Medical Only plan or a more traditional travel insurance plan that includes a travel delay benefit. Q: When does my policy start?

Trip cancellation benefits start as soon as your policy is issued. All other benefits, such as emergency medical and dental cover, start on the date of your departure (as shown on your Certificate of Insurance).

Q: Am I covered if a large event occurs overseas?

For many large-scale events that occur around the world, we'll prepare specific advice which is available here. This advice will give you an understanding of the event and exactly what is covered in relation to it. If there is no advice posted on a specific event you want to know about, please contact the Aunt Betty customer service team directly on 1300 730 898.

Q: Can I change my mind about travel insurance?

You can cancel or change your travel insurance policy any time before you leave on your journey. If you cancel within 21 days of the date the policy was issued (and you have left on your journey or you do not wish to make a claim), you will receive a full refund — no questions asked!
